1930s house joists

Hello everyone I'm new here. I've been removing the chimneys from my 1930s terraced house and done all the stack reinforcement etc. Having removed the majority of the brickwork in the stack it's clear that they're supporting the joist above as the end of the joist (3 inch wide and 7.5 inch high) hasn't been secured into the wall and is around 8 mm off. What can I do to secure this? I'm scared to remove the bricks under it in case the ceiling collapses lol. Also there is a perpendicular joist that is around 6 cm off to the side of the main one I have mentioned. Any advice would be really gratefullu received.

It's normal for joists to be trimmed around the breast, pics would be really helpful.
