Hi. I've uploaded a couple of photos I've just took after lifting the insulation in my loft. I'm in an ex council 1930s semi. Is this likely to be asbestos? Just looks very similar to the old corrugated roofs and left me wondering? Thanks in advance,

Jon

Jonno85, good evening.

What you appear to have on the digital images posted is an original Lath & Plaster ceiling.

The small bits of "White looking" material are no more than bits of the plaster that have neem displaced from the top side of the lath and Plaster ceiling.

I believe that what has happened is that the small bits of plaster have been knocked off by the installation of the insulation, the way that lath and Plaster works is that the laths were fixed and the plaster was applied, this plaster application forced some plaster through the gaps between the timber lath, called up here the "Plaster lock"

Unfortunately, these Plaster locks are very fragile and are easily dislodged and broken off even by the movement of a light weight insulation in the loft space.

In short, this material does not appear to me to be Asbestos.

Ken.
