a friend has just replaced the brake pads on his XJ6 but the light on dashboard still stays on,, how do you 'reset' the light?

Thanks

If memory serves me right the sensor light on jags of this age is an earth type where the pad and wire act as an earth for the circuit. You may find the warning wire is earthing out further up the loom.
its also worth checking front and rear just incase. Unplug wire from harness and see if the light goes out.

Thanks for this, I since learnt that he only had the front pads replaced as he was convinced the rear ones were OK.

He hardly uses the car now so when he has the rear checked it will hopefully be OK.
