Just bought the car which appears to have one intermittent problem. Occasionally, when accelerating, the engine dies suddenly and completely. When you stop and re-start, it starts ok and runs totally normally. Any suggestions appreciated. Could it be the stop solenoid?

What puzzles me is that when the engine dies and you coast to a stop, it always starts again first time with no hesitation. It seems to be worse from a cold start.

try draining the water from the diesel filter, then rebleeding the system, or just starting the car up if its got an autobleed system - I had an early escort diesel and that didnt require manually bleeding after draining or otherwise.
