1st Feb 25% tariff on Mexico + Canada, 10% on China

This is what underpins the standard of living of millions of people in Europe and America.
Can we start making our own cheap tat for the same price as cheap Chinese tat.
I'm not sure what point you're making. Are you suggesting we start making cheap tat within the UK, or are you making the point that no, we can't?

Trump has a habit of changing his mind very quickly ??

He has certainly caused some squeaky b. Ums in Canada / Mexico ??

Looks like the price of Harley Davidsons may be going up ???

I’ve imported parts from the states :censored:

Does trump know this ?? :giggle: I will email him

Might be worth mentioning you're a mate of Bubba. (y)

The problem for Trump is that his tariff wars will instantly increase USA prices.

His perceived belief that tariff wars will benefit USA will take far longer.

Trump needs to get some good economic figures in hand before the mid terms…..

I expected a last minute turnaround/agreement reached or whatever, never underestimate the power of the Donald to surprise, but I really can't see where he's going with this.

Just been reading how many car manufacturers have opened plants in Mexico
By American manufacturers.

Will we see some of those commit to opening plants in America? maybe
The problem is Trump changes his policies on a whim…..it’s pointless building a factory in USA when set up costs and many millions and take years when Trump might change his mind and anyway will be gone in 4 years.

There was a reason they left in the first place (y)

I remember when BMW opened a large plant in South Carolina where they were making the sportscar, didn't realise they'd since opened further plants in Mexico, along with Audi, VW and some American manus. And of course the main market for all of them is the US.

BMW, Audi, VW....

I don't blame them. Have you seen some of the American tat out there?

When you consider Europe are big consumers of all things auto, the scarcity of American tat is no surprise.
