Hey I have just look at the pipes in my house and there is 2, 22mm flow and 2, 22mm return pipes feeding upstairs there are no separte zones to the heating. Why would this be
Sorry but maybe not a big problem.
What most likely has happened is that at the point the system has been changed to a combi and that at the point where they have capped the flow and return they have left these pipes in so not much to bother about really.
If you have the boiler in the airing cupboard then probably have used the gravity circs coupled up to the heating pipes at the back where the back boiler was.
Flow & return to upstairs heating, which you'd expect.
Flow and return to hot water cylinder, probably left in place because the bathroom radiator/towel rail is often connected to this so as to provide some warmth in the bathroom and towel drying outside the usual heating season.
