2 gang dimmer

I am trying to install a 2 gang dimmer for separate wall lights from a switched spur.
The back has C L1 and L2 at top of first switch
C L1 and L2 at bottom of second switch
I have red connected to bottom C with red link to top C

Connecting yellow to bottom L1 works one set of lights

Connecting blue to L1 at top blows the switch, but if I remove the yellow and replace with the blue 2nd set of lights work
any ideas ?
