2 gang light switch-1970's to now

Hello, my first post!
It is a 2 gang switch, each switch controls 1 light independently and is one way, I.e not 2way.
The pic above is the only one and the new is below.
Please could someone tell me which wires go where !
Skill level competent heavy diy'er but I don't touch electrics and my electrician (who I trust) is on holiday!

New switch:
L = Com
L1 = one way

You will note that the old switch is two triangles with one upside down.
The new is two triangles the same way up.

I would have put the browns in Com but it doesn't matter.

The wires in the COMMONs go to the Ls in the new switch.

The other wires go to the L1s in the new switch.

If a switch operates "upside down" then move the wre from it's L1 to it's L2

I know I'm going off topic here, but seeing a 1970s vintage switch wired with modern colours makes me wonder what's going on. I know there are several perfectly reasonable possible answers to this but there are also a few worrying ones... I'm not saying that there is definitely something wrong, just that it doesn't look quite right and if it were my job I'd want to investigate.
Is that T&E or flex?

The one that immediately sprang to mind was the switch having been moved and there being a concealed and or poorly made joint between the wiring that we can see and the wiring that would match the age of the switch.

I know, it's circumstantial evidence at best but it's enough that I'd want to take a closer look if I saw it on one of my jobs.

The OP does not mention the switch being moved and I can see no evidence of such in the photos?????
"poorly made joint" ! I presume a rewire has taken place on this circuit with the existing fixtures being reused.
Could these not be posabilities?

Just to put at ease, a rewire took place, new rcd board and moved the switch, my fault as I ordered all the parts as per inventory but forgot a new 2 gang switch. All joints were made in accordance to wiring law etc...This is the reason for the OP. I hope I haven't caused too much head scratching, I appreciate all the feed back on this forum.

Wanted to finish my lounge with an easy fix which I have done with the help of constuctive people.
I used to be a member of a beach buggy forum again asking people for help but as with this one there is always some keyboard terrorist who wants to beat a man down for certain posts. I appreciate the help but if nobs want to have a go then keep your dumb ass opinions and snidey comments to a minimum. I can get that going into retailers who look down their nose at people trying to do a good job at cost. I am not belittling professional trades, I respect them, that's why I pay for them. It was a simple question that now has resulted in a personal attack. Administration if you wanted take those down then please do

They absolutely are possibilities as I said in an earlier post...

I know there are several perfectly reasonable possible answers to this but

...and the OP has now confirmed this.

I raised it purely because it's a little unusual to see and in >50% of jobs where I've seen it, it's been due to one of the less desirable possibilities.
