Hi all,

I currently have two lights and a double switch in the dining room, but we always use the lights together.

In the back box I have a live, two switched lives (one for each light) and an earth. Is it ok to simply connect the two switched lives to one L1 in a dimmer (ensuring that i'm not overloading the dimmer)?

Thanks for any help!

NOT NECESSARILY.

You will need to check first that both lights are on the SAME lighting circuit.

By that, I mean only one fuse or circuit breaker has to isolate both of the lights.

If each light is on a seperate circuit you can't do it.

Yes they are on the same circuit breaker, thanks for your help.

The fact that there was only one permanent live, would suggest that there is only one circuit present!
So yes would be the answer!
