The one on the left, the two speed pump with five wires. Vaillant part number 178983 if it's the one with control knobs. The later version has only buttons and never came with a Wilo.

My boiler is the ecotec plus 824 R1 here's images of boiler and pump and connection to circuit board.
So its still the one on the left?
Many thanks

Yes, and you have to change the whole pump, not just the head. But it's quite easy really.

The photo on the left is the pump for the older 2005 – 2012 Ecotec Plus and Pro models. This pump is a 2 speed pump with 5 wire connection. The photo on the right is for the later, 2012 – 2015 Ecotec Pro models only. This is a single speed pump.

The silly thing is they both have the same part number of 178983

hi
Just a few questions if you can help?
The air vent screw valve on top of pump.
Does it need to be all the way open, half way or closed?
Whats the purpose if it?

Also when i drain system and refill after fitting new pump. do i need to unscrew the middle of the pump (the flat head screw in centre) to let a little water out to air bleed it?
Many thanks

You should not be changing the pump yourself because a DIYer should not be opening the room sealed cover to your boiler.

Nor should the others who have replied to you be encouraging you.

See the forum rules!

Its also obviously a cheap installation!

In that case you should join the combustion chamber section of this site where we can give you information on any aspect of boilers.

You don't need to join the Combustion Chamber to be told what a dick some people are on here. Removing the cover changes the classification of the flue and you should not operate the boiler with the cover off, but you are not altering the integrity of the gas train or the combustion box.

Some people think their bus pass is a Gestapo badge.

"We"?...who is "we"???..you hardly post any informative information in the combustion chamber as your normal routine is to seek advice from the professionals by asking all sorts of dumb questions....
What was it yesterday you were asking????...oh yea , "how to cut Tracpipe"...
