1. The hot water tap doesn't turn off fully and there is a constant trickle. Is this simply a washer problem (turns off fine when the water is running cold)

2. Hot water tap in kitchen runs fine for a while then "pumps"

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Tap needs re-seating and re-washering.Not sure about pumping do you mean air is in the tap?

Thanks.

The hot water tap starts OK, then when it heats up I get an intermittent whoosh - stop - whoosh. Bit like someone being sick (but without the carrots).

Thanks for your help Simon.

Sounds like an air lock. (Providing you have a vented system with a tank in the loft/bedroom)

Air trapped in the system can cause a tap to splutter or fail completely. The answer is to force the air out using mains pressure.

Attach a length of hose between the affected tap and the cold water tap at the kitchen sink (or any cold tap fed direct from mains). Leave both taps open for a short while and try the airlocked tap again. Repeat if necessary until the water runs freely.

This advice is for a vented system NOT for combi boilers or sealed hot water systems!
