I have the live coming in and out of a light switch. I want to fit a new switch which will provide 2 way lighting. Additionally, my current light switch has L1/com, L2 and L3. There is no dedicated Com terminal.

All the wiring diagrams online are like this:

Do I treat L1 as com on my current switch and move everything on by 1? I.e where the wire is connected to L1, I use the L2.

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Most likely - yes.

I don't know if any manufacturer does label L2 and L3 the other way round, but it doesn't matter which way you wire them.
The switch will just work "upside down".

My current switch is a wessex brand

The picture you posted shows a 2 gang 2 way switch, and both gangs are each currently wired as a one way switch. If I understand correctly you want to turn one of those to a 2 way switch.
To do this, as you said move the wire(s) on whichever gang/switch it is from L1 to the free terminal L3 and run and connect a 3 core+earth cable from L1,L2,L3 on the switch in your photo to the new switch. New switch will be either L1, L2, L3 or more likely C, L1, L2 depending on how it's terminals are labelled.

Edit: Note:- in case it's not obvious, the terminals in your photo for each gang are in a triangle. One the other up from the other.

Spot on

UPDATE: by moving this along 1, everything worked. Thanks for the assistance.

Almost resolved…
Upon further testing, both of the switches (1 of the two gang and the separate light switch) can independently switch the light on/off. However, they can’t switch the light off if the other switch instigated it. Something is off. Any ideas?

Not sure this helps but here are the pictures…
I can’t find wiring diagrams for 2 way lighting when the loop is at the switch.

With the current wiring, I can switch the light on and off with either switch but they don’t interoperable.

Thanks for your help
