2 way switching...help

Hi, it was in the earth in the previous two switches so good job I had difficulties with changing this one as it was incorrectly wired. I'v taken it out of the switch and blanked it for the time being. I cant trace the wire sadly but presume it goes to the switch dowenstairs. I currently have one red in L2 and the black in Comm and have the switch working as one way.

you or someone else need to test out that yellow wire. this can be done easily with the power off and a continuity tester.

I think it'll be easier to put to old light fitting and switch back on...I shouldnt be this hard to change a light fitting and its really not worth the effort.

you have unwittingly discovered a potentially seriously dangerous fault that needs rectifying. i strongly advise to seek help.

it is very likely that the upstairs switch was incorrectly wired when a replacement switch was fitted. hopefully there won't be problems elsewhere. it should be very simple to sort out. the downstairs switch looks healthy enough.

Thanks for input from everyone. I have put the old switch and light fitting back and now everything is fine. New light fitting and switch will be returned to teh shop saving me a considerable amount of money.

FYI no it wasn't successful, thanks anyway (as I said previously).

ColJack, I wasn't aware that you had provided the information on what to do so I'm unsure as to why you felt the need to add a rude response.
