Hi,

My rear wiper stopped moving on my 2001 Ford Fiesta, it seemed to be just when it was cold but now it wont budge. I tried taking the wiper off and the motor was still working and rotating. I put the wiper back on and lift it up so it wasnt against the windscreen and it would rotate the blade. But when I put the blade down against the windscreen, no movement.

Not really sure what it could be? Not enough power, too much resistance :)oS ?), old motor needs replacing?
Any ideas on what the problem could be? Don't really want to get a new motor if its a simple fix.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig.

The shaft on the motor that the wiper arm fits onto should have fine splines, as should the inside of the wiper arm. It sounds like the splines on the arm are worn.

I'll check that, if the spines on the shaft of the motor are worn, does that mean I need to replace the whole motor?

Thanks

If there are no splines it's new motor time. Sometimes if you give the securing nut a good tighten up it's enough to get a good grip.

Thanks, I'll give it a look when its light and see if that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply
