Sudden loss of power whilst driving and felt like the car was choking. car now will not start. engine turns over sounds like it wants to start but will not. im thinking either timing belt (ouch) or fuel pump but dont know what the symptoms are for timing belt. if the timing belt snaps will the car engine even attempt to turn over ?

change the back box ?? thank you for your answer can you elaborate more on the back box that your talking about ? as i have no idea what u mean

Look up the exhaust pipe from the back and see if you can spot any silencer debris due to a collapsed system.
An easier way is to remove the lambda sensor from the catalytic converter if you think there could be an exhaust blockage......this is what tommy means, I think.
If the timing belt has come off, the engine won't go at all....if its jumped a couple of teeth (unlikely) then the engine will run roughly.

Maby check the air filter and throtle body could be cloged up abit.

You can check for a snapped timing belt by removing the oil cap, and turning the engine over, if the cam doesn't turn the belts gone, you would have noticed anyway, the engine would have coughed and the dash lit up like a Chrismas tree. Not saying that's what wrong with it though, if it didn't stop of it's own accord, but simply wouldn't re-start, then it's almost certainly not a snapped cam belt, unless it snapped after you stopped the car.
