2010 ford c max bonnet unable to open

Hello, I need some help concerning my bonnet release catch, I managed to remove the complete cable with cylinder and plastic bits and unconsciously shut the bonnet before fitting the new parts. All I have is the hole in the grille where the cylinder was but I cannot get the release catch to operate, any advise would be greatly appreciated

smash off the white plastic on the end of cable with long flat screwdriver when most of the plastic gone lever out remainder that will reveal the hole in bonnet latch turn with screwdriver
