Boiler fan runs for no apparent reason even with thermostat turned off, occasionally the heating turns on even with heating turned to zero and no taps turned on .
Any idea please.

Greenstar or older Standard Efficiency Junior?
Got an MT10 clock on the front?

Hi thanks for the reply, it's at least 15years old temperature knob on the left and manual timer on the right which we never use.
We turn the temperature knob to zero at night and turn it on if needed in the morning.

Thanks for the reply, it's 15 years old the temperature knob is on the , and the manual timer on the right.
We do not use the timer we just use the temperature knob to turn on off.
Apart from the intermittent fault it works fine.

That description applies to both...link and image or post a pic.

Ok it's the original iJunior from around 2003/4.
I guess you've got the clock at position 0.
That's not an issue I've seen before, timeclocks and thermistors (the temperature sensors) that might cause the heating to come on are pretty reliable on that model.
Have you had to reset the boiler lately...the main well known fault on these is the burner firing with the fan not running.

Hi no have not had to reset at all, the temperature knob does seem a bit touchy this fault has gradually got worse over about six months.

Hi no there are no leaks at all, the fan just comes on by itself more often evening or at night, some times the burner ignited with the temperature set to zero.

I've simulated a leak on the hot tap has not caused the burner to come on
