Hi I'm trying to change some radiators in my old heating system. The old pipe is micobore 3/8 and I'm wanting to join 8mm to this. I don't seem to be able to get any compresion fittings to convert any suggestions?
You can buy 10mm to 8mm reducing couplings in both compression and endfeed. but the 8 will go inside the 10 so if you cleanit up ok you can do as Agile say's and solder it without a proper fitting.
Its obvious to me and most professionals but DIYers might find this helpful.
When doing a bodge solder with a tube in a too large fitting, flare the small tube outwards until it fits tightly into the fitting. This will make a better joint and prevent exvess solder getting inside the central bore.
Ideally use plumbers lead/tin solder if its a heating pipe as it becomes "pasty" if its kept at the right temperature.
