Hi All,

Appreciate any help with this one.

I have purchased a 2 gang remote switch to make some small adjustments on my landing upstairs.

For switch 1: to replace a bathroom pull cord - as the doorway position has changed.

For switch 2 : an additional control for my landing light - which is currently switched from one end of the hallway and the bottom of my stairs.

My lights are currently loop wired and I can’t figure out how to connect the new switch up - with only two wires.

Attached a picture of the new switch.

Any help appreciated.

It would appear from what you write that your lights are wired with the loop at the lights.

Therefore:

1: You could connect the bathroom switch at the bathroom light location;

2: You could connect the landing switch at the landing light location but it cannot be made to be part of the two-way circuit.
It would be separate and override the two existing switches when the light is off.

There are other remote switches that can do what you want - but bear in mind that without a Neutral at the switch locations some of these will also not be suitable.

1) Three way switch has three positions, I think you are talking about two-way switching?
2) To use a relay, you need a neutral or battery, depending on switch design, it needs power to work the switch.
3) Manual switches do not need a neutral.
4) Wire being blue does not mean it is a neutral.

There are smart switches, relays, and bulbs which one can change the state using a wireless switch or button, TP-link for example (Tapo) some can be hard-wired, but often you have a master and slave, they are not wired in the same way as a manual two-way switch arrangement.

Just moved my kitchen lights from wall switch to smart bulbs, the hardest thing is to remember not to use the switch. My landing lights have been controlled by a relay for a couple of years not, the relay is inside the lamp. lamp-landing_1.jpg I can select inner or outer with voice control using Nest Mini's can also change colour of centre bulb. How it is wired varies make to make.

Do these come with instructions?

The place to put the receivers is at the lights where the live and neutral are, You will require 2 switches for the 2 Way circuit.

Thank you!
Do you mean wire it behind the actual light switch?
How is this done with the two wire available on the switch please?

If you have any recommendations for another switch that will do what I want, that don’t require batteries and/or a bridge I would be very interested to take a look.

Thank you for taking the time to explain.

I currently have the 2 Gang Remote switch and 2 receivers.

Could you tell me what I need to purchase to have the switches in place already to continue working properly?

The landing switch downstairs is already on a switch with 3 and the landing control upstairs is on it’s own.

Are you trying to replace the existing landing switch with that in the picture, if so you will simply need to buy a single gang wireless version to replace the downstairs switch and program both to the receiver. Or 2 additional remote switches to replace both existing switches.
That will render the existing switch wiring redundant.

The exisiting landing switch already has one upstairs and one down stair switch.
I am trying to make the new wireless switch a third control for this light.
