Hi - would be grateful for any help with the below (can't get British Gas out),

Summary:
330+ boiler does not seem to be heating, despite HIVE telling me it is heating. Pressure reads 0.9bar on display. All the hive devices seem to be on and communicating. I think there's a problem with the boiler in general, but British gas cancelled my engineer because of COVID and because my workarounds were keeping the house warm.

Background:
Historically if hive thought the boiler was heating and it wasn't, then the pressure had dropped in the boiler. I'd go to the attic (where the boiler is) and open the valves to let the water in, and then when the pressure came up the boiler would start up, and I'd close the valves again. this happened every now and then.
Around start of COVID times this KEPT HAPPENING. So I ended up just leaving the valves open, which fixed the problem, but concerned it shouldn't be this way, I asked for a British gas engineer, and they cancelled because of COVID.

Last night it felt a bit cold. I set the thermostat on hive to 22 degrees, and hive said it was heating, but radiators were not warm, and as time went by the thermometer recorded a small drop in temp rather than a rise. This morning the thermometer recorded a further small drop.

I went to the attic. Boiler has no fault on the display. Says 0.9bars, 70 degree target when heated. Hive says it should be heating, but I can't hear any heating activity. Temperature starting to pick up now but then it's sunny outside.

If tonight it gets v cold and radiators are not warm I will tell british gas I have no heating and small children in the house etc. But I'm sure they're busy, so if anyone can help me out that would be great.

See attached images/docs.

Kind regards and thanks in advance,

With those valves being permanently open, you risk causing more issues, but if your pressure is 0.9 bar and doesn’t change, it would suggest to me that it’s not filling.

Thanks.

The boiler seems to be working. Water is hot and radiators are coming on. So not sure what it was up to that day.

I am worried that the valves being open is going to cause problems, or a sign of problems. Can you suggest what sort of problems? Might help me convince BRitish Gas it shouldn't wait until end of lockdown.
