Is it safe to use the led strip (has 3M tape) by sticking it to the underside of kitchen cabinets or does it need to be in a channel?

I wasn’t sure if it has any live parts on the strip that need to be enclosed.

Thanks in advance.

Provided the 12 volt DC power supply unit provides isolation between it's 12 volt output and it's mains input then it will be safe.

In a kitchen it makes sense to use brackets to keep the strip in place if it happens that the adhesive fails.

Yes stick it straight to the cabinets. If you buy the waterproof one it has clear insulation over the strip to waterproof it, which will also make it more resistant to toasters, cooking steam etc.

yes, it's safe, be sure to clean up the place where you try to install the LED Tape. the surface should be smooth and clean.
