Heard nightmares about coverage and folks going into stores , buying a phone on contract with 3 and finding out they have no signal... especially in Altrincham. 
So, I've just got a free SIM. Put a fiver on it & I'm road testing it to see what the coverage is like in our area.
If it's rubbish, all I've lost a fiver. If it's good, I'll port my number over.

When 3 first arrived the coverage was pretty poor, that was some ten years ago, I've been with them ever since and have never had a problem, however my contract ends in a few months and I will definitely be comparing prices with Virgin.

Mrs S has their £12 package: 1200 mins, UL texts (actually limited to 60K), and 1 MB data.
Watch out for:
Long texts: you get charged picture messaging rates for those.
Paper billing charge of 1.50 automatically added: you have to opt out: f'in cheeky.
Usual extra charges for 08 etcetera numbers.
But I like the idea of 3 because you get UL data for same price (ish) as that. £12.90 gets you fewer minutes, but I'd never use 1200 anyway, so that's no loss.
Plus they're also offering Ultrafast at the mo: what they call "3.9G".
So, if their coverage is good in the SK area, I'll be swayed!
