I want to buy this radiator:

http://www.agadon.co.uk/products/au...ur=ANTHRACITE&size=1800+X+300&find_radiator=1

It uses a '50mm central valve', these seem to cost about £100, see here:

http://www.mhs.nationwide-bathrooms.co.uk/twin/accessories/mhs-twin-radiator-valve.html

My question is can I just screw a separate TRV and lockshield valve into the 2 15mm threaded holes in the bottom or do I have to use this 50mm central valve? Are the lockshield and TRV parts of this central valve just attached for looks or is there something more to this arrangement? Has anyone ever tried this?

Thanks,
Simon

The central valve is for aesthetic reasons. You could use the end connections but you would have to plug the central connections, which may look untidy.
Have you looked at other manufacturers such a Bisque or Zehnder?
I think that the designer rads in B&&Q are made by Zehnder.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately given my pipework and location I am very limited on what I can get in the way of radiator.
So do you think I can use the 2 central holes to screw in a standard TRV and a standard lockshield?
Thanks

Thanks everyone, I will now have to decide if to go with separate straight valves or the Danfoss combined unit which was suggested by rpevans.
