A clear case of no shame nepotism.

Out of interest I had a look to see what the law says in the UK:

Prime Minister:
The British Prime Minister has no powers of pardon.
He or she is a politician, not a member of the judiciary.

Not directly like the President. The PM might make a recommendation to the Monarch to issue a pardon or tell the home secretary to make the recommendation, or the home sec might ask the PM if they can

King or Queen of UK
The monarch can use the royal prerogative of mercy to grant pardons, which are also known as royal pardons. This power can be used to change any sentence or penalty, but it does not overturn a conviction

I think this is a good reason why we are better with a Royal family than being a Republic state
That is a bit misguided.

Firstly the PM in command of a majority government, merely whips his party to vote for legislation that achieves his goal. e.g.

Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Act 2024

Secondly, the King has absolutely no power to pardon against the will of parliament. I certainly wouldn't want the unelected monarch to have any oversight or control of democracy. The Government maybe a bunch of morons, but they were democratically elected.

Despite sleepy joe saying repeatedly he would not pardon him . Yep corruption takes over . Hopefully once he is gone a proper investigation into the laptop takes place .

I trust you will have the same attitude to any pardons granted by Trump?

But regardless, nobody should be above the law. President, or not.

yeah that doesnt seem very good

I was thinking more of a pardoning a criminal offence of an individual -like the Biden case

If I were Biden, I'd pardon everyone who might be in the revenge cross-hairs. About 200 ought to do it. That will leave the MAGA congress with loadsa spare time for actual lawmaking, not making lawfare.

On Hunter, I said soon as they ousted Joe, he should do it as an "FU!", on his way out. Glad he did.

Well, i guess it is wrong but, as a parent one would do anything to help their offspring..

LOl... but he is about 60 now..... its not sending a good message to the average Joe in the united states though is it!

So not just a pardon for what he was found guilty of but any crime he has committed since jan 1st 2014. With allegations pedophilia on the lap top why would any parent allow some one to get away with that . Also all the bribery involving tens of millions and payments to the big guy...pure contempt for American people with evidence from his own camp he was discussing a pardon as far back as june despite saying..No pardon.

Why would anyone vote for a convicted felon and rapist to be president? Them Muricans are baffling sometimes...
You mean that guy who has not got an actual rape conviction and all those felony charges look like they are about to be quashed without the need of a pardon from the big guy.

No.

I think it's pretty well established that Presidents get to pardon. It's nothing out of the ordinary. You may disagree with the setup, but it's how it is (I'm sure if the feeling was high enough that it could be changed).

What's a bit stinky about the Hunter Biden situation is that Biden (and his team) insisted many times that they would not do this. And the media presented this, along with how Trump was evil for pardoning X/Y/Z, so Biden is showing the 'one true way'... only for there to be silence when Biden pulls a U-turn.

Not unexpected, but pretty hypocritical.

Trump would pardon himself if he could, but I bet if his candidate wins the next election he will be pardon too.
Sure I think it was wrong, but so is pardoning anyone, whos been convicted.
