Well from my last post some of you may realise removed wall paper only to find plasterboard, well I have now found the missing link.

The house was built using plasterboard, it was skimmed plastered IWO joints and screw holes, and corners remaining was left as plasterboard.

They then must have lined the wall with 800 or similar, this is what has pealed off really easily IWO plasterboard but not so much IWO plastered joints and corners, so now i have stripped all liner off except IWO platered joints and corners.

I have now primed bare plasterboard with 1:5 PVA and going to leave it until tomorrow which is when i will start to screed bad areas with filler and then feather out the remaining liners with filler, i will then sand and fill probably a couple of times? and then primes with cheap slightly diluted matt white emulsion and then two thin layers of coloured emulsion.

Do you guys think i have my work cut out?

I dont want to hang more liner done like it TBO.

Does anyone know why the existing liner came away so easily IWO bare plasterboard? DId they not prep properly?

You do have your work cut out..but it has to be done unfortunatly...personally id go for lining again..that way you will at least have a uniform surface to work on, as opposed to filled and sanded areas which will stand out

Whats TBO mean?

Do you work in marketing or advertisng by any chance? ;)

Lining over newly ames taped gyproc baffles me, makes no sense. Best getting a plasterer in to plaster all walls.

TBO = to be honest

I must be one of the forum geeks ;)

Anyway got part of a wall done today, ran our of polyfilla would you believe think i am going to need a lot more, maybe i should buy something cheper, any sugestions, basically tonight i applied a screed to the bare plasterboard and filled the low points on the liner that is still stuck :(

But all looks ok, although i will have quite a bit of sanding to do tomorrow :(
Going to sand this bit i have done and then paint with the emulsion to see what sort of finish i am likely to achieve, hopefully better than expected

TBO = to be honest
..is it a silent O or H? :confused:

Get yourself a bag of gyproc easi-filfrom BQ about nine quid..its far cheaper and far easier to rub a dub down
