Hi

The PIR in the kitchen has been attached to some very stylish 60's tongue and groove. When the kitchen fitter tried to remove the cladding the alarm went off. Obviously the alarm had not been set but disturbing the PIR seems to set it off. Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I overcome it.

Many Thanks

Gareth

He's either opened the tamper switch in the PIR or damaged the cable which has then shorted in some way. (inner cores touching together).

Is there any sign of cable damage?

Simply entering you code should clear the panel. (unless a fuse has gone)

Thanks,

The alarm switches off and clears ok at the panel. The problem is how to carry on the work around the PIR without the setting the alarm off and also the future reliabilityof the PIR

Thanks

You haven't said what work you are doing around it.

Sorry, yep a bit vague

Basically the PIR was fixed to cladding which boxes in pipes. The work is to remove that cladding and rebox the pipes and locatePIR in same place.

Thanks

If the tamper activates then put the number in and don't reset it. Most will then stay dormant.
Alternatively open another PIR and leave the lid off (global tamper). Enter your code and the system won't reset until you put the lid back on. Then sort out the original one. Everything will then come back to normal when you are ready.
