I have an Excel database with 1 field containing both numeric and alpha/numeric. When I try to import this table into Access I receive the error message 'import errors', when I look at these errors it is the data that is alpha/numeric. I am not getting the option in access to change this field to 'Text' as it is greyed out. I have tried setting it to 'Text' in Excel but still get the same error. When I have saved the table in Access I can change the field type to 'text' but I have lost the imported data. Suggestions appreciated.
