Ian - the Trend Routabout Hole Cutter kits (as per aw's advice) are available from www.itslondon.co.uk for £36 + the dreaded (½" router and £3 less for ¼"); extra ring packs (10) = £25.
Another method is to use a Solid Board Cutter for an SDS drill but this'll do smaller dia access holes - www.screwfix.com and others do these.
