Acer Travelmate 7720 hinge

The right hand hinge has ceased to move on the machine.
When this first happened I noticed the "black square pin" at the side
of this hinge had come loose.
Have re-inserted the pin but it doesn't seem to be gripping, the left hand pin is OK.
The screen had come away in the frame, I've taped this up in an attempt to put things right.
The screen is working OK but won't now close......HELP

Often laptops with stiff hinges rip the threaded inserts out of the lid so there will be nothing to screw the hinges to.
If this is the case, you may be able to glue or araldite the inserts back in.
I have on occasion drilled the lid, used longer screws and added nuts to the outside. It was that or scrap.
