Hey guys.

I'm planning on painting my newly laid garage floor and in preparation for it, I've cleaned it and acid etched it.

Once etched, i washed it down again and again with LOADS of water and let it dry.

Last night, I tipped a little bit of water on a part of floor, and it had a little fizz to it.

So my question here is, does this mean the acid is still present and not been neutralised?
If so, what's my next move? I don't want to paint it to find it reacts and it's all been a waste of time!!

Cheers!

If you go outside and hose down a nice hot dry concrete surface it'll fizz anyway, it's just the water soaking in. The concrete and dust is very alkali so will have neutralised the acid well.

When painting your garage floor, don't waste your time with the standard polyurethane stuff. If you want it to be resistant enough to park a car on, it must be the two-pack epoxy paint.

That's reassuring, thanks! Was concerned because I only want to be doing this once, so thought I'd test it and it fizzed up with some white residue.

Yeah I've done my research on the paint and I've gone for a 2 pack epoxy primer then 2 pack epoxy top coat.

Cheers
