Hi all just a quick question here. Does the term 'acrylic', basically mean water based

In a word yes. Having said that its not the same as emulsion. Both are water based and are cleaned out using soapy water but, the acrylic has different properties to make it into an primer / undercoat.

Ignore the last reply, acrylic and vinyl are now really historic terms, in that there true meaning has been lost. It really now means water based when reffering to acrylic or vinyl.

Not really, acrylic , vinyl and emulsion are all terms that are used interchangeably from a technology point of view

You seem to be talking in riddles. You said the same as me in that both paints are water based. Thas what the question was. I was trying to keep the answer simple so as not to confuse.
