Hi all,

I've looked around but can't find an answer: is "water based" gloss the same as "acrylic" gloss? In other words, are all water based gloss paints acrylic paints?

The reason I ask is that I've just bought a new build property and need to repaint my skirting boards, which were marked when I removed & reattached to put in a wood floor. The house builder tells me that they used an acrylic paint on the rest of the woodwork and I'm keen to match it. I don't want to use an oil based as I've read it tends to yellow over time.

Thanks very much in advance :)

WB and acrylic are the same thing. There are alkyd/acrylic hybrids but i doubt new build decs use them because of price, they generally use contract paints, something like Leyland
