hi all, this is my first post here so i'm sorry if this has been asked before - i did do a quick search but couldn't find out what i was looking for, so....

my loft is choka-blok full of old useless crap that i can't throw away (not my crap) and i am looking to put down some kind of flooring to increase the useable space and generally tidy the space up a bit. at the moment the flooring consists of random pieces of chipboard/mdf just loosely placed across the area.

my question is how should i go about re-flooring (or rather, flooring) my loft?? it doesn't need to be aesthetically pleasing (no carpet ;)), just durable, practical and most importantly economical.

any other tips and advice on this matter will be appreciated...

PS - yes i am a bank holiday diy'er!!

you could try q & b and look for packs of chip board for loft flooring. they are just wide enough to sit b across half a joist each side, but do screw them down, dont nail them as you may damage the plaster of the ceiling below with the vibration
