Hi

I want to add a shower to an existing bathroom. The total waste run will be around 5m, which is much greater than the DIYnot suggestion of a limit of 2.3m on 38mm pipe.

What are the likely problems?
Are there ways around these?

Also, can I link to the bath waste (would still give me that 5m run overall) or is that asking for trouble (eg bath partly emptying into shower tray and out onto floor!!)

Thanks for any replies!

Your only problem really is self syphonage. You could get around this by fitting a hepVo trap close to the shower trap.

As long as if anything else is Tee'd into the shower waste, the shower waste water itself doesn't pull any other traps out, or even better don't havea anything connected to it
