Adding beading to a square profile skirting board

Hi all,
New to this forum. I'm currently tackling a lot of DIY projects in our new, but very dated house.

My question is, there are varnished wooden square profile skirting boards throughout. I would like to put an ogee style bead on top and then paint both parts in white.

Has anyone this added beading to a skirting board and have any tips? I can't find much on the internet about this. I'd rather not rip the existing ones out and start again as I'm not sure my skills are up to that level.
