hello i wish to add 2 new lights to an extension thats nearly built and i am wondering instead of breaking into the lighting circuit could we take the power directly from the mcb that powers the lights to the house .
thanks in advance.

Can't you get the electrician who's doing all the other electrics for the extension to do it?

yes you can take a line from the mcb but is it a kitchen? if so it is notifiable to building control and as BAS says, get a sparky anyway.

cheers for that advice 17th man.

ban all sheds what post were you reading i never mentioned any other electrics being done.

yep two lights one in the cloak room and one in what is going to be the entrance hall.
thanks for your replies.

OK - so the extension consists of a cloakroom and a hallway, there are no sockets or anything, just lighting?

yes there is a double switched socket just inside the old door way where the extension is joined.
