Adding New Wall Lights Help !

okay story so far !

got my spurred unit in supplyed from socket so whats next !

ive got a live and neutral from my spurred unit and i want to add a dimmer switch but what wire where (L1, L2 and wavey line & arrow) !

and from there ? another live and neutral to the wall light ?

OK, so as I read it, you've taken a spur from the socket to a Fused Connection Unit? And I guess you've connected the correct conductors into the SUPPLY terminals of the FCU?

Now you need to run T&E from the LOAD terminals to the light fitting. Neutral to the Neutral terminal in the light fitting, Earth to the Earth terminal in the light fitting and the Live to a terminal block (which may or may not have been supplied with the light fitting. Do NOT connect this live coductor to the Live terminal - you'll end up with a light that's permanently on unless your FCU is switched.

Now, you need anoher length of T&E to run back to the dimmer switch. At the light fitting end the Earth is obviously connected to the Earth terminal. The Brown core needs to go into the terminal block which you connected the live conductor to. This is your permanent live.

The Blue core needs to be sleeved with brown sleeving and then connected into the LIVE terminal of the light fitting. At the switch end of the cable you need to connect the Earth to the Earth terminal which I suspec is the arrow you alude to. Is it a single line with three or four lines running at a right ange to the single line, each of the lines slightly shorter than the one beow it?

Your other two are connected to the L1 and Common terminals in the switch.

Make sure you sleeve the Earth conductors with green and yellow sleeving and also make sure you fit a 3a fuse in your FCU - the fuse supplied in it will be a 13a fuse.

If in doubt, call in a qualified spark. The cost is excellent vaue for money when you consider the lives it could save.
