Adding Shower Over Bath - Remove Coving?

Hi,

I am adding a shower over the bath and re-tiling the bathroom.

There is currently coving. Do I need to remove the coving over the bath? I was going to tile up to it, but presumably it's not waterproof (it looks like plaster).

Suggestions?
If I remove it, presumably i'll have to remove all the coving from the entire room.
(One of the walls won't be tiled).

Current situation is that I have removed the bath, toilet and sink and have removed the areas of plasterboard which were tiled, ready for re-boarding.

I would seal coving where its going to get splashed with something like (preferred)

Coving is unlikely to get wet so can remain.
