Adg7540 No lights on control panel.

Im hoping one of you knowledgeable people can help me out with a small problem.
I have an Adg7540 and this moring I came down and there was a pool of water left in the sump.
There are no leds lighting up on the control panel which I though may have been a sign of a fuse blown or other electrical fault.

Changed the fuse but still no lights on the control panel.

Cleaned the filters,checked the water sensor(as per other posts here) but still nothing.

Maybe related but over the last 2 weeks or so the door had to be closer to closed for the control panel to light up,if you get me.But last night it had to be almost fully closed before I could start the cycle.

Is there any type of "tilt" switch that could be faulty in it.Or could it be a faulty connection.

Inside the door at the top is a micro-switch which prevents the machine switching on with the door open.

This works in conjunction with the loop at the top centre of the chassis, this loop sometimes comes loose and works its way backwards so preventing the door interlock/microswitch from working.

The door interlock sometimes wears as well preventing it from engaging with the microswitch.

Machine should not operate with door open though, it should be fully closed and locked before it operates

Thanks for the reply Leccy.Just reading my first post my description of the problem is incorrect.

The machine never operated with the door open or should I say the cycle never started with the door open.

In order to set the cycle the door had to be open to get at the control panel which always had 2 lights on it ie the "on" led and the one that tells you which "cycle" the machine is set at.

In recent times though the door had to be more closer to the "closed" or "fully upright position" (but not closed fully because then you couldnt get at the control panel) to get the lights to switch on and sometimes it required a "shake" of the door to get the lights on.

Before this problem occurred the door could be fully down or anywhere inbetween to set the cycle ie the lights were "on" no matter what position the door was in.

Just had something similar on a Prima dishwasher and it was the door interlock thinking the door was shut when it was open (would not allow the panel to operate)

In that case it was the interlock in the door being out of alignment (bent plastic pin) so the lock was constantly registering shut (micro switch was jammed by bent pin)

My first impression with your problem would be loose connections in the door on the pcb/user interface or a loose control panel though.

Fair play to you mate.All working 100% now.

I got out the multimeter last night and started testing all the connections.Everything was leading to a control panel failure but when I took off the control panel there was a big spark from the bottom of the machine where the bunch of wires slide under the front kick panel.

It was then I noticed that one of the wires was severed and earthing off the body of the machine.I replaced the wire by soldering the 2 ends together and covering the join with heatshrink tubing and everything is 100% now.

What I did notice was that the wires there dont have enough protection from the constant movement of the door so I had a sheet of soft rubber which I slid around the wires and taped in place to protect the wires so to speak.

Was quite an easy repair once I discovered what the problem was.
