Adhesive for bonding mild steel to granite

People,

Due to a small contact area, I need to strengthen the joint of a granite kitchen work top.

I intend strengthening the joint by bonding a piece of mild steel to the granite on both sides.

Can anyone recommend a suitable adhesive that is available from most DIY stores etc?

I do not require a "gap filling" adhesive, although something with some thicnkess would certainly be preferable. Araldite have suggested Araldite rapid, however I thought I would ask for other opinions.

But I would recommend asking specifically if it will meet your needs.

Araldite is good stuff and if it has been recommended I would go with that.

Gripfill is another much used product but is a gap filler as well
