I have a few floorboards that I need to lay over a steel beam. What adhesive should I use for that. If you can recommend an adhesive that's sold widely, e.g., in Screwfix or Toolstation, then that would be preferable. Thanks

Why do you need to glue a floorboard to a steel beam? Normally you mechanicall fix wooden flooring onto timber joists (i.e
nail or screw). The problem is that wood and metal have coefficients of expansion, so you ideally should have a flexible connection between the two - but something like ordinary silicone works well if all you need to do is stop any clunking noises where the plank goes over the steel

I definitely need a flexible adhesive for a couple of floorboards that's going under two doors. It like to glue the board (the adjescent boards will be nailed to joist) to stop it from moving or clunking as you said. By normal silicone do you mean a silicone bathroom sealant or similar?

Yes. Providing the boards are fixed either side you should be OK. I've also used a specialist flexible adhesive in the past to do this job. It was a bit like CT-1, but if your beam and wood are clean and grease-free plain old silicone will do the job. If you aren't certain of that, go with CT-1. It sticks to anything and everything, and sets to a rubber-like consistency
