Hi,

Can anyone tell how to adjust my door closing device so that it does not slam.

It closes very slowly until about 5cm away and then slams hard - is this adjstable?

It is made by arrone if that helps.

Many thanks

is it an overhead closer or a perko type that fits into the door edge?

its the latching speed that is obviously set too high, theres usually 2 adjusting screws on the closer,1 does the closing speed then another does the final part, the latching speed
if your unsure which is which it is far better to turn the adjusters in then turn each one out 1/4 of a turn at a time to see what difference it does, this will let you determine which screw does what.
be very careful not to unscrew the adjusters too far out otherwise the oil may leak
if your closer has 3 adjusters then the 3rd one does the backcheck which basically stops the closer being flung open too far and damaging the wall or similar.
the one on the bottom left, the hoppe closer should just have 2 adjusters on the end of the closer

thanks for that.

Yes the device does seem to have two screws on a endes of both sides but is there a special key or tool for adjusting these as it just had threads and no screw heads??

there usually just flat or cross head adjusters, have you looked on both ends ? if its a really cheap closer it might not be adjustable but ive raraley seen any that arnt adjustable
