Hi all,

The door to one of the rooms in my hotel has started slamming recently even though it has an overhead door closer on it.

The door closes most of the way nice and slowly, but for the last couple of inches it just appears to give up and let the door go, and being so heavy it just slams shut really loud.

Most of the other doors seem to be the other way round, they seem to close quite fast but at the last few inches they slow down and the doors close nice and softly.

Any ideas or can anyone tell me how to adjust it?

Cheers

Kristian

Sounds like you have the latching action on too strong (plus the power setting may be too high). Depending upon the model, latching action would either be adjusted by changing the position of the arm, shoe, or by turning some adjustment screw (carefully). Power setting can sometimes be adjusted too.

If you don't have the original adjustment instructions, can you ID the make & model, then ask for instructions from an online distributor?

do not undo the screws to much or you will have a problem.

hopefully you have no oil stains anywhere,if so then the closer may be fubared.?
