Advice about internal insulation

We have a 1970s house with cavity walls (have cavity filling). One of our rooms is VERY cold (it has 2 external walls and a flat roof). We live in a conservation area, so I think external insulation would look really odd (we would be the only house anywhere nearby that would have it). I was wondering about internal insulation, but have been reading stories about damp, etc. Would internal insulation be possible, or is it even a good idea?

1) Internal insulation is certainly possible if you are prepared to accept a small loss of space
2) It is certainly a good idea - especially if you are currently suffering from being cold.
3) Properly applied with simple methods, there is no reason at all to fear damp because of the insualtion.
