Hi all,

Was starting my DIY today and was about to start to try and remove the radiator which is due to be taken to a local paint removes next week and was turning the valve to close it shut as its always been left on by the other tenent and water started to come out the top of the valve where the rod thing go;s into it that turns. Does anyone know how easy this is to replace on our system or do you think i should contact our council who is our land lord.

Chris

Most rad valves have a gland nut around the spindle which can work loose and weep. Try nipping this up tight and the leak should stop.

Hi,

I have tried this. the water seems to come out the centre of the pin that turns to open and close the valve

The valve should shut off but when it is half closed and not in the 'usual' position that it has been in it will weep slightly, They sometimes stop leaking when system is up and running again.
If not then new valve.
