Hi

My house has double glazing from the 1970's and early 80's. I have been looking at the windows and doors from local companies but I just don't know how to tell if the products are decent.

What should I be looking out for? Is there a certain spec which I should be using as a guide?

uPVC seem affordable but I have noticed people are installing windows with narrower frames - I think they could have aluminium in them? I am not able to afford coloured frames (not convinced they'd look right on my house anyway).

Are there any tips to look out for - I'm looking at purchasing from a outlet which supply trade and DIYers - and then I will get a window fitter to put them in.

Grateful for any advice please.
