Advice on filling ceiling cracks + holes

Looks a good job filling that however the tape needs to be deep enough in the filler. I think you will be fine though.
You can apply mesh to the surface and cover with filler but better to sink in enough like you have done.
Sand over and without applying gardz smooth a bit more filler over then lightly sand with something like 180 grade or 240 grade.
Then gardz when your happy with it.
