Hi, please be gentle as this is my first post!

I've hired a plasterer to replaster a bedroom, I removed all the loose plaster as per his instructions. When he came to pva he told me he had applied five coats and it wasn't sitting on the walls as it should and just keeps getting soaked into the render also within minutes the wall is bone dry.
Is this a common occurrence? He did say he's not known walls this dry.
The missus is getting on at me as I think she thinks he's taking us for a ride. For what it's worth I trust him I just don't have the knowledge and can't find anything online.
Help and advice gratefully received thanks.

An experienced plasterer would know how to control suction. Seems to me he doesn't know the job. Get another plasterer.

Cheers roughcaster

He's been a plasterer for 20 years and his feedback on mybuilder is 100% over 6 years. I was surprised it couldn't be dealt with though, he suggested using boards instead.

Like rc said if he cant control the suction then his plastering wont be any good!!!
