Hi Guys,
I recently moved in to an old house which has had a ground floor extension at some stage. My problem is this, there are 2 cu's, 1 in the extension which contains both kitchen and bathroom and 1 for the main building. My problem is this: the cu in the extension seems to be running through a 30 amp fuse on the other cu!Both cu's are the older fuse wire type. Is this safe and if so is it practical?
i'm scratching my head with this one, Does anybody have any advice?
Many thanx.

Nothing essentially wrong with that arrangement, provided the 30A fuse adequately protects the supply cable to the extension and fuses in the second CU are appropriate for their circuits. And earthing and bonding are up to scratch. But, quite often with extensions, the wiring may not have been carried out by an electrican and may not have been tested.

For piece of mind get an electrician to have a look and if necessary have a full inspection and test.

Cheers mate,
Think I'll take your advice and get someone in to have a look at it
