Advice - upstairs and downstairs halls being done.

HI Just to close this off

We use large pieces of metal as stiched across the crack.
Rebuilt some of the wall, replaced cement where it was poor quality sand like.
Took all the old plaster off the wall then plasterboarded it and skimmed it.

Cheers for all the advice...

Now on to the basement (see my post in the building area to see what horrors we have found now :)

Cheers for the advice

The play at DIY has definately stopped.

I'm worried about removing the plaster as that might be holding the wall up, as it is bulging according to the spirit level....

So we are going to call in a structural surveyor to do a proper report on it.

it is going to cost us money, but hey it is worth it in the end....

Hi,
I've just noticed this post. I have a very similar problem with a large crack along my party wall. Just wandering what your structural surveyor said.
Would be most grateful for response.
Cheers
